An Islamic Will or “Sharia-Compliant Will” is a Will which conforms to Sharia laws and which can be legally enforced in Canada. The Islamic Will includes both bequests and legacies, instructions and admonishments, and assignments of rights. In Canada, where the intestate succession law is different from an Islamic law, it is necessary to write a Will.
Will is also mentioned in Quran few times. It’s been said in Quran, “It is prescribed, when death approaches any of you, if he leaves any goods that he makes a bequest to parents and next of kin, according to reasonable usage; this is due from the God-fearing.” [ A l – B a q a r a h 2:180]
At another occasion, it is said, “It is the duty of a Muslim who has anything to bequeath not to let two nights pass without writing a Will about it.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)
